The Farm and its 8 acres were purchased in 2001 by the Friends of Valley Falls from the Darico family, children of the Beach Family’s original farm manager. The property includes 8 acres, a farmhouse with two apartments, five outbuildings and a cold cellar. In order to save the complex from developers, the Friends put together monies from a State of Connecticut grant, a $100,000 grant from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, the Town of Vernon, and local contributors. In 2005 Valley Falls Farm was designated a “Local Historic Property” by the Historic Commission of the Town of Vernon. Descriptions of each of the buildings on the property can be found by hovering your mouse over the Valley Falls Farm tab and clicking on “BUILDING DESCRIPTIONS.”
